ANTIQUE PEARSONS AUTOMATIC NAILER PATENTED JAN 26, 1892 & JAN 7, 1908 Nail Gun

This listing is for a PEARSON'S AUTOMATIC SHINGLE NAILER. This early version of a portable nailing machine was patented as early as 1892 by the Martin Pearson Manufacturing Co.

This nailer was advertised as follows: Works well on any pitch roof. Gloves or mittens can be worn and nails driven faster than by the old way.

This'Hand Nailer' is the only nailer. Throw nails in by the handful and start nailing, etc. Nails can be driven through tin or quite heavy sheet iron. The Automatic Shingle Nailer was offered in two sizes.

The BLUE Nailer for 3d common No 14 gauge wire nails. The RED Nailer for 3d galvanized No. 13 gauge 1 1/4 wire nails. This is the blue nailer designed for 3d common No.

The galvanized hopper holds and dispenses the nails which then move down the chute and are released into a standing position under the piston. The user then manually pounded the piston with a hammer to drive the nail into the shingle. The Nailer features a galvanized hopper with hinged cover and cast iron handle. Measures about 14" long x 8 1/2" tall x 3 1/4 wide.

I would say this was in working condition. It is a great display piece in very nice antique condition.
